The gorgeous Island of Inchagoill, or the Island of the Devout Stranger, is steeped in a rich history that dates back as early as the 5th century AD. There are legends that identify the devout stranger as St. Patrick who founded the first of two churches on the island. The island is filled with Christian ruins, including the beautiful sandstone doorway that is depicted in the photograph entitled Pathway. This doorway was the entryway to the “church of the saints” or Templenaneeve.
